Janus Henderson and Centrifuge Bring Nasdaq-100 Exposure Onchain With JQQQ

Wall Street’s technology-heavy Nasdaq-100 Index has found a new home on the blockchain. On Tuesday, Janus Henderson and Centrifuge unveiled JQQQ, introducing an issuer-sponsored investment fund designed to track the celebrated equity benchmark directly through public blockchain infrastructure.

The press release shared with Bitcoin.com News says the fund will debut exclusively on Stellar, combining conventional institutional portfolio management with programmable digital ownership. For Janus Henderson, which oversees approximately half a trillion dollars in assets, the initiative pushes its growing tokenized investment business into one of the world’s most recognizable equity indexes.

A $1 Billion Onchain Platform Expands Into Equities

Managed by Janus Henderson and powered by Centrifuge’s tokenization infrastructure, JQQQ seeks to replicate the Nasdaq-100 Index under license from Nasdaq.

Unlike products that simply create blockchain representations of existing securities, JQQQ is designed for native onchain issuance and operation, potentially allowing its shares to function within programmable portfolios, lending arrangements, and collateralized financial applications. Nick Cherney, Janus Henderson’s head of innovation, described the expansion, stating:

“This launch expands Janus Henderson’s onchain platform, which now includes more than $1 billion in institutional strategies across U.S. Treasuries, structured credit, and public equities, to encompass one of the world’s most recognized equity benchmarks.”

Centrifuge Brings Institutional Equities to Stellar

Centrifuge supplies the underlying infrastructure, while Stellar serves as the fund’s exclusive launch network. The companies said Stellar’s real-world asset market exceeded $4 billion in 2026. Anil Sood, Centrifuge’s chief strategy and growth officer, explained the broader ambition, noting:

“Tokenization becomes much more powerful when the assets investors want to own can also become building blocks for an onchain financial system.”

The arrangement introduces a different proposition for decentralized finance (DeFi), connecting a licensed institutional investment strategy to blockchain-based financial infrastructure rather than merely reproducing traditional securities digitally.

The distinction is consequential. JQQQ introduces the possibility of equity-index fund shares circulating through programmable financial applications, although their practical utility will depend on regulatory policy and permissions, platform integrations, and investor eligibility. For tokenization, the next frontier isn’t simply putting Wall Street assets onchain. It’s determining what those assets can actually do once they arrive.
